Please Help With My Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort

Hello Friends,

I want to take a minute out of your busy day and ask for your help.  Unless you've been in a coma for the last several days you've probably seen images and heard news about the devastating effects that Hurricane Katrina has had on the Gulf South.  Well, for the first 35 years of my life I lived in Gulfport, MS, which was possibly the hardest area hit by the storm.  And though it is no longer where I take up residence, it's still home.  There are lots of family and friends in the area that need help.  I know many who no longer have a place to call home.

So I decided that I would do what I could to help out.  I'm in the process of working with local papers, radio, and TV to raise funds and supplies.  Hopefully I'll be able to bring a caravan of trucks with much needed food, fuel, water, and clean clothing to the MS Gulf Coast area.  So if you aren't in a position to go yourself and would like to help - well here is your chance.  If you would like to donate money for supplies please do so.  Anyone who does donate will be kept up to date with blog entries, photos, and tales of the rebuilding process while I'm actually in MS.  I plan on being in MS at least two to three weeks, possibly more, so anything you can do would be a great help.  I'll be paying my own expenses and anything you can help with will go directly to aiding those who need it most.

Hello Everyone...I don't really know where to start with my offer, because we are a very long way from our Hurricane victums but here are my thoughts and what my family can offer.

We live in Fredonia New York which is near Buffalo. My family has an extra home and my sister has a huge house and plenty of extra room. Our family would like to sponser a couple of families (we are thinking a family for the extra house and an older couple to live with my sister and her husband. We could help them fly from from Houston to Buffalo New York, pick them up from there and house them. What we are really looking for is families that are looking to make the best of a bad situation and find short term work in our area (or we could help them find odd jobs) so that they could help support their family while they are here and hopefully have some money to take back home with them to help rebuild their lives.
